Master Your Energy, Not Your Time.
Time marches forward, unyielding and unchangeable. It's not within our power to control or manage it.
What we can control, however, is our energy. There are two main ways to do this:
Align tasks with your energy highs and lows.
Experiment with behaviours and routines that boost your energy levels.
To become a virtuoso in energy management, simply answer these four questions:
When are you at your energetic peak and trough during the day?
Which work activities do you find invigorating, and which are daunting?
What routines or activities energise and inspire you?
Are there any foods or drinks that sap your energy?
Firstly, align your most challenging tasks with your energetic peaks. Reserve less taxing activities for your low-energy periods.
Next, leverage your answers from questions 3 and 4 to boost energy strategically. Experiment with energising activities and observe how dietary changes affect your energy levels. Consider breaking up your day with a walk, adjusting your work schedule, or modifying your diet to maintain stable energy levels.
Lastly, remember that energy levels vary from person to person. Show empathy to your team members, understand their energy patterns, and apply these same principles to help them optimise their performance. They'll appreciate your efforts, and the results will speak for themselves.
